JCSU’s five-game win streak snapped with loss to Claflin, 82-65

Box Score CHARLOTTE – Kelis Carmon led the Golden Bulls (9-8, 6-4 CIAA) with 15 points, while Najah Lane added 14 points as Johnson C. Smith women's basketball saw its five-game winning streak snapped, as Claflin University built a second-half lead to pull away from JCSU, 82-65 on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Golden Bulls shot 45 percent from the field (22-48) and 33 percent from behind the arc. JCSU shot 60 percent from the line.  
 
The Golden Bulls committed 22 turnovers which turned into Claflin's 34 points off on turnovers. The Panthers outrebounded the Golden Bulls 33-30. 

Nya Morris led the way for the Lady Panthers with a double-double 22 points, 10 rebounds, while lauren Scott added 24 points. The Lady Panthers shot 45 percent (29-of-64) from the floor and shot 82 percent from the free throw line. 
  
With the win, the Lady Panthers are now 11-7 overall and 5-5 in CIAA play.  

The Golden Bulls will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 30 as they host the Bears of Shaw University.
