Raleigh - The Johnson C. Smith University bowling team finished second in the Southern Division on Sunday as the Golden Bulls concluded play at the CIAA Event II, in Raleigh N.C.

JCSU went 1-2 during Sunday's final round, finishing with a 5-7 record, with a total pin fall of 7,646, ahead of Livingstone (4-8) and Shaw (3-9).

Fayetteville State went 12-0 over the weekend.

In the Northern Division Bowie State went 11-1 to beat out Virginia Union (8-4), Elizabeth City State (4-8) and Virginia State (1-11).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

- On Friday JCSU went two and two on the day defeating  Shaw 664-637 and Livingstone 624-599 and falling to Fayetteville St. 764-686 and Livingstone 625-593.
 
- Saturday, the Golden Bulls defeated Shaw twice, 646-557 and 604-598 and Livingstone 721-627 and falling to Fayetteville St. twice 766-618 and 822-661.

- JCSU closed out tournament play by going one and two on the day, winning 601-582 to Shaw and falling to Livingstone 654-616 and Fayetteville St., 879-618.

-The Golden Bulls finished with two bowlers inside the Top 10.

- Brianna Hudgins placed sixth, averaging 166.3 and finishing with a 1,501 total pin fall.

- Amara Turner claimed seventh at  1,478 total pin fall, while Amajha Jones recorded a pin fall of 1,116.

-Mackenzie Combo registering a 959 total pin fall and Lillian McAllister rounded out with a 757 pin fall.

JCSU will take three week off before returning to the lanes as the Golden Bulls will compete in the CIAA Round-Up on Friday, Feb. 23-25 in Richmond, Va.
