Box Score FAYETTEVILLE - Two Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball players scored 13 points but it wasn't enough as the Broncos of Fayetteville State University snapped the Golden Bulls two game win streak, by winning 64-56 for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division contest Thursday afternoon inside Capel Arena.
The loss dropped the Golden Bulls to 11-9 overall, and 5-2 in the Southern Division while FSU now stands 20-2 on the year, 7-1 in the division and 13-1 in league standings.
Ashley Kirven and
Kelis Carmon each scored 13 points for the Golden Bulls. Kirven had a game high of 16 rebounds, nine of them offensively.
The Golden Bulls had a tough night from the field, shooting 25-percent (15-31), making only one basket in the third quarter (1-7) and shot 15 percent from behind the arc 3 for 19. Free throws are what kept the Golden Bulls in the game as they went to the line 38 times, to only make 27.
Aniylah Bryant led the way for FSU with 19 points, while Keayna McLaughlin added 10 points.
