Va. State Edges Golden Bulls, 54-53

Box Score Ettrick, VA - A cold shooting afternoon doomed Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball as they fell 54-53 to the Trojans of Virginia State University on Saturday afternoon in a CIAA Cross Division action.

Betsey Burnett scored a game high of 15 points, on 6 of 16 shooting from the field and went two of five from behind the arc and went one for one from the free throw line.
Kyshonna Brown added 14 points and finished with nine rebounds, a team high. Tameia Shaw finished with 12 points.

For the contest, JCSU shot just 29 percent from the floor and hit 3 of 13 (23.%) from behind the arc. At the charity stripe, the Golden Bulls shot 66 percent shooting (12-of-18).

The Golden Bulls will return to action Monday, Jan. 6 as they travel to West Virginia to take on Bluefield State. Tip-off is now slated for 3:00 p.m.
