NEW ORLEANS – All-Region honorees for the 2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with 11 student-athletes from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) across 14 events were among this year's Atlantic Region selections.
2021-22 CIAA Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year Zoe Adams of Claflin University (Track),
Justin Steele of Johnson C. Smith University (Track), and Glenn Butler (Field) led the way with each being selected for two events. Adams and Steele both made it in the 200m and 400m while Butler was recognized in the high jump and long. CIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Year Kennedy Alexander of Winston-Salem State was also recognized in the high jump.
Joining Adams, Steele, Butler, and Alexander as all-region selections from the CIAA are Johnson C. Smith trio
Warren Williams (60m hurdles),
Jydia Faucette (long jump), and
Aria Goode (triple jump), Virginia State's Emmanuel Oguntoye (triple jump), Lincoln's Kamani Johns (400m) as well as Winston-Salem State duo Amique Willis (60m hurdles) and Tionna Wilson (triple jump).
Johnson C. Smith led the conference with four total selections followed by Winston-Salem State with three and Lincoln with two.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West – match those used during the cross-country season.
