Golden Bulls Build Momentum at CIAA Northern Division Tournament

BLUEFIELD, W. Va. — Johnson C. Smith University golf team participated in the CIAA Northern Division tournament hosted by Bluefield State University, finishing eighth overall with a team total of 979.

The Golden Bulls displayed resilience throughout the challenging 6,357-yard par-70 course, posting rounds of 322, 324, and 333. D'Yanni Rhyne led the way with a 79 (+9), including a strong 36 on the back nine, while Pedro Haddad added an 83 (+13). Carter Houchins (86, +16) and William Johnson (85, +15) rounded out the team's scoring, demonstrating determination under pressure.

Bluefield State University used a steady final round to hold off a late surge and capture the CIAA Northern Division event on its home course, finishing at 38-over-par 878 after three rounds.

Fayetteville State claimed third place at 909, while Winston-Salem State (916) and Virginia State (922) rounded out the top five. Further down the leaderboard, Livingstone College finished sixth at 934, followed by Virginia Union University (942). Johnson C. Smith University placed eighth at 979.

Bowie State University (1023) and Elizabeth City State University (1042) completed the field.
